The October issue of Canadian Geographic Online features on article by Andrew Hamilton on the Ellesmere ice shelves, written as part of the collaborative climate change issue. The issue chronicles many of the changes taking place across the Canadian Arctic, with a focus on the effects of climate change on the people of Grise Fiord, Ellesmere Island, and how they are adapting to the new environment.
The “Ellesmere Ice Shelves” story summarizes the major events during the collapse of the ice shelves over recent years. It is accompanied by a photo gallery, which includes numerous images from the Ranger Ice patrol in April 2008, as well as animations from NASA of the ice shelf break-up events.
